Blackjack Guidelines

The blackjack commandments are an absolute must for players wanting to stay ahead in the blackjack game. Read each guideline carefully and keep them in mind when you play your next game of blackjack.

  1. Everyone plays differently.
Even good blackjack players have varied ideas as to what is classifies a good player. Don't expect players to do the same as you in various circumstances, no matter how good they are, for there may be more then one way to do play correctly.

  2. Look at your opponents directly.
Try to know who your opponents are- observe their features and ‘befriend’ them so as to fear them less. It goes without saying that we tend to be scared of what is unknown to us. Know more and you’ll fear less.

  3. Always play silently.
Besides projecting a certain image to opponents, silent play is also good for concentration. When playing in silence, you end up having more thought-out "inner talks" with yourself. This enhances your concentration and thus, your play.

  4. Be realistic.
Thinking wishful thoughts will lead you to bad decision-making. Anxious thoughts do the same. Decisions should be based on real facts and information, and not on speculative assumptions. It’s terrible to be bluffed by another player; but even more so by yourself.

  5. Don't make things personal.
During blackjack games, it's easy to get caught up in your opponents’ personalities. Don’t be sidetracked by their ambition and aggressiveness. Similarly, don't change your playing style just because they may happen to be jerks or irritate you. Impersonalizing the game will ultimately make it more profitable.

  6. Blackjack is a dynamic game. Play accordingly.
Your blackjack game won't be greatly helped by any sort of a fixed strategy or playing style. You need to respond to the dynamic nature of the game. Respond to changes and think fast, otherwise you’re bound to go home empty-handed.

  7. Boost your winnings, not your ego
Take it from us at bj-21.com- Playing for the sake of your ego will only cloud your judgment, leading you to make irrelevant decisions. You'll also alienate your opponents and eventually, you'll most likely lose your winnings.

  8. Always have a plan
Always have a plan or strategy. Try guessing what your opponents have, in accordance with their betting habits. Even though no plan is guaranteed to work, a faulty plan is better than just randomly shooting out moves.

  9. What about counting my money at the table?
Ideally, you’ll have so much money that you won’t be able to count it yourself.
