Cheating At Blackjack

Big casinos that cheat are unusual to find. You should, however, keep your eyes open when it comes to unregulated casinos, such as some cruise casinos. Even though most casinos don't actually "cheat" their players, they do legally make money off of players' winnings by instituting fixed house advantages. Thus, they do just fine for themselves, without having to resort to any illegal means.

If that's the case, then why bother talking about blackjack cheats at all? Well, blackjack cheating does still occur in some unregulated and underground games and you have to know how to cheat to keep yourself from being cheated.
You're much more likely to find blackjack cheating when playing a single deck game of blackjack, than for games in which cards are dealt from a shoe.

Most backward dealers are likely to use the "second deal" method of blackjack cheating. In this cheating method, the card mechanic makes a show of dealing the top card, when he is actually dolling out the card right underneath the top card. This helps the dealer manipulate the game to his advantage. After all, if you were able to draw a high card when you needed one and a low card when you needed one, you could end up winning huge sums of money in next to no time. Moreover, a dealer can use the second deal to quash even the finest Blackjack players bankroll just as quickly.

Somebody wishing to deal seconds naturally needs to know what the second card is in order to win.  One way to conclude this is by stealing a look. A card mechanic will probably sidetrack you by either gesturing or waving the hand that holds the deck. While you’re busy looking, the dealer will secretly take a peek at the second card. A riskier means is called pegging, in which a device called a pegger is used to lightly indent the cards. Thus, by feeling them, the dealer can know what the card is. Being able to peg all cards valued at ten has some obvious advantages.

A different cheating technique is known as the "high-low pickup." It is easily performed even on the first try, particularly in places that are very noisy and distracting. Once each hand is played, a dealer will choose the cards according to their order in rank i.e. high-low, high-low. He then begins to "false shuffle" the pack so it appears to be shuffled, when it's really not. The high-low-high-low assortment of the cards can be detrimental to players.

When dealing from a shoe, cheating dealers can use hidden mirrors and prisms, placed in the holdout shoe allowing the cards coming up next to be revealed to the dealer.

The staff at bj-21.com does not advise players to cheat, but it's important to be aware of the ways that one can cheat, so you can prevent yourself from becoming the victim of a cheating player. There are of course some imprudent players who will just walk up to a table, grab some chips, and run as fast as they can. This, however, is neither a very original, nor an intelligent method of cheating.

Card marking is another favorite. "The Daub" technique is made by secretly applying a substance to create a nearly invisible mark on the card, and is normally done on high value cards.
The "hold out" scheme entails switching one card with a better one. This is commonly done when big money bets are at stake. A risk involved when using these schemes is that the pack will be distorted because the pit boss might notice that something fishy is going on when he examines the pack after it's taken out of play.

Additional schemes include playing with two hands (changing cards from hand to hand), counterfeiting cards and/or casino chips, and adding more chips to your stack after a winning round. Some dealers are not always careful when checking their hole card for blackjack, and a person standing at the back of the dealer can identify the cards. Once that is done, the value of the card is indicated to one of the players. Wireless signaling devices are used for a number of aims, but many casinos have the latest electronic detection systems to foil such cheating schemes.
